Langham Village Web Site
The information in the table below provides an analysis of trades and occupations from the 1841, 51, 61, 71, 81, 91 & 1901 census. It indicates that the village community was fairly self sufficient in spite of being so close to the county town of Oakham. When looking for trends it is important to note the changes in the use of occupation names, Ag Lab, Farmer, Farmers Assistant, Farm Servant, Farm Manager etc. It is possible to detect the wealthy moving in to the village with their retainers as the century progressed.
