All the King’s horses …
In Nov. 1915, Lord Lonsdale became Master of the Cottesmore Hunt,
needing the Barleythorpe stables: the Belgian horses were moved to
Oakham; the 30+ carriages stored in the Poultry Hall and Riding
School [now Museum], thanks to Major & Mrs Henry Noel.

Was not Ramscapelle, a few miles north of Bruges, occupied by
the Germans in July 1915?
Yet it was possible for a postcard showing war damage to be
printed by this date and to be sent, via an organisation called
something like Post… Militaire, to refugees in England.
